Where kids can do anything

Can Do is an exceptional charity offering fun, friendship and adventures for young people with disabilities living in East Lothian.

As a unique, long-running, parent-led Scottish success story, Can Do has been providing fantastic activity programmes for youngsters with additional support needs since 1982.

With an annual activity calendar which includes school holiday playschemes, term time weekly youth clubs, residential weekends and family fun days, there’s so much to do with Can Do, and so much fun to be had. Activities range from arts and crafts, hula-hooping and marshmallow-toasting to trampolining, swimming, encounters with animals and even kayaking.

Our charitable activities

The importance of social contact and the impact of social isolation has never been more apparent than within the last year for our members and families. Can Do adapted our service delivery in March 2020 to provide opportunities for our members to connect, keep in contact and maintain friendships whilst the nation was under a stay-at-home order.

Our impact, achievements & challenges can be viewed in our 1st Trustee Report.

Playschemes

Can Do playschemes offer a broad range of activities for children and young people with additional support needs in East Lothian during Easter, summer and October week school holidays, at three East Lothian locations – North Berwick, Haddington and Tranent.

Youth Clubs

Can Do’s two weekly youth clubs from Meadowpark school in Haddington and provide places for teenagers and pre-teens aged between 10-18 to hang out with friends and socialise with other people of their own age.
