Angela Smith

Assistant Co-ordinator & Youth Leader

Angela’s school years at Ross High in Tranent were mostly spent rebelling and not learning much, but a recommendation from the school librarian resulted in Can Do volunteering at the age of 15. Two decades later and Angela’s still there, doing what she loves most. Determination to achieve equality for the Can Do kids continues to drive Angela to this day.

As the Can Do youth club supremo, Angela especially enjoys seeing the teenagers enjoying age-appropriate activities with their pals, and not being stuck at home. The residential weekends are also very special, she’s so proud to work on a project which offers this annual adventure for disabled young people.

Angela loves spending time with her own children, Alfie and Harry. She loves football too but is more football mum than terracing fan nowadays. Angela still goes to gigs and festivals, but has become more rock than rave!
